• Nominations for the 2007 Cybil Awards are now open. Cybil Awards are online literary awards for juvenile and young adult literature published during the year of the award. You can nominate a book online. For a listing of the winners from last year see the 2006 Cybil Awards page.

    • Loudoun County Public Library is now offering Safari online reference books. Patrons can read hundreds of reference books on a vast array of subjects from their computer.
    • BookSwim has finally launched. Enjoy Netflix type book rentals for as low as $20 per month. You receive 3 books. When you have finished two you send them back and they send you two more. No late fees, no shipping charges. They will be delivered to your door.
    • Prince William Public Library now offers eaudiobooks from Overdrive.
    • Loudoun County Public Library patrons can now learn a language with an online course through Rosetta Stone. Choose American English, Mandarin Chinese, French, Japanese, or Latin American Spanish. Bull Run Library patrons are eligible for a card at Loudoun County Public Library.
    • Maryland jumps onboard learning 2.0 statewide! Explore Merlin or Maryland's essential resource for library information networks" for some great links and information.
    • Arlington Public Library has kicked off their Learning 2.0 program with a Wiki format.
    • With Blurb anyone can publish a book. You can choose one or many copies, hardcover or software. The uses for this service are limitless.
    • Web 2.0 Awards is a source for great sites that incorporate the 2.0 principles.
    • Almost one year after PLCMC introduced Learning PLCMC, they are undertaking Learning 2.1 which will be dedicated to preserving the momentum reached in Learning 2.0.
    • On April 26 the Virginia Library Association District V presented aLibrary 2.0 workshop. The presenters demonstrated several initiatives that are developing in select libraries and how they are working.
    • Add a WorldCat Search engine to your personalized Google homepage by adding the url "http://worldcat.org/googlegadgets/worldcatsearch.xml" at the "Add Stuff" prompt under "add by URL".
